Network processors (NPU) are integrated system-on-chips (SoC) which combine the architecture of a CPU and network controller with hardware cryptographic algorithms. The aim is to simplify network processing devices with the use of hardware-based acceleration features. NPUs are designed in multi-core, multi-thread MIPS64 architecture, while providing superior performance for content and security processing.Advantech has adopted NPU solutions from ecosystem partners, such as Cavium and RMI, into our platforms.
