Alex first joined Advantech in 1999 as the manager of the eAutomation group. He has always been a pioneering person in expanding Advantech's worldwide business. For example, Alex was the key person behind Advantech's first overseas acquisition, which later brought in significant business as well as customers.
Alex was born in 1959 and graduated with an electrical engineering degree from National Cheng Kung University. His landed his first job as a sales engineer at Hewlett Packard (HP) Taiwan. When he was about to leave HP 13 years later, he had become the vice president of the desktop PC division as well as the regional chairman for HP Taiwan. He later moved his family to Beijing and worked for Tektronix as the general manager of Greater China. After two years with Tektronix, he then moved his family again to Cincinnati, Ohio and joined Advantech's eAutomation group. In 2005, he formally became the chief operating officer (COO) of Advantech.
Alex believes that Advantech's success lies in the fact that it has a global view and a local touch. And that is why after becoming the COO of Advantech, he put a great amount effort in systematically managing each local office's operational experience. The result was an efficient global working environment for all Advantech's worldwide branch offices.
To Alex, the most challenging part of being a trusted ePlatform service partner is to serve the customers well; especially for the IPC industry, which is characterized by having to respond to many different types of unique applications. Nevertheless, Alex is determined that by collecting each branch office's operational experience and sharing successful cases, Advantech will reach its goal in becoming a globally trusted brand name in the IPC industry.
